In honor of Canada Day, show us your favorite Canadian.
There are several vying for that honor, but at the end of the day I think it goes to the mighty Moe Berg, chairman of The Pursuit of Happiness.
You rawk, Moe.

In a sad day for Netizens, Time Warner's Road Runner ISP has quit hosting newsfeeds. Usenet, the once-vibrant land of free debate and nonstop flaming, grows ever quieter.
As I reflect on this loss to unfettered free speech, I have but one question.
NOW what am I gonna do for free porn?!
(Oh, yeah--YouTube.)
Naming variables "bleen" will never be the same.
Gonna miss you, George.
Way back on February 10th, I said I that would, for the remainder of that month, write a private response to each QoTD and, if I liked the result, post it here. I also claimed I would report back at the end of the month whether I'd stuck with it.
Amazingly enough, the exercise was a success: I did answer each QoTD. Often the responses were flip and glib, but that's fine. It got me jotting down a few daily notes.
But then I didn't just forget to report back on it here; I also dumped the whole exercise once the stated time was up. And any keeping of daily notes went with it.
So: time to re-up the commitment and start answering those QoTDs--or anything I find that provides a daily catalyst. And this time I'll leave the timeframe open-ended. Most of the results won't show up here, but it's still a public commitment. Because if I don't do the work and someone here calls me on it, I could look vaguely stupid to as many as one (1) persons, a dire consequence that could cost me up to fifteen (15) seconds of ill-defined embarrassment. Motivation enough. I'm off!
What's your favorite type of donut?

The kind I do in the parking lot.
(Yes, it's a joke. I came out of work one afternoon to find I'd parked in the middle of someone else's tracks. I like it.)
In terms of the things you eat, I'm a sucker for local favorites Graeter's and Busken. Especially the custard-filled fudge-iced. Mmm. Not a taste to be indulged too often.
In need of a Les Paul or Strat? Perhaps you'd like one with prog-rock provenance? Look no further.
I spoke too soon about the prevalence of periodical cicadas around our house. They're here, and they're flying all over the place whenever the sun is out (and sometimes when it isn't).
Cicada shells, anyone? Yummy.
Okay, this is a good one. I mean, I think they're all good. But this one...this is a good one.
Yes, it's time for another track from Chaos Town, the 1998 CD by my old band The Practical Man. (This track and more are available as free, no-bullshit downloads at Slaw Wagon Records.)
Inspired by The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes, "Always Making Up for Lost Time" tells the story of Billy Milligan, a real guy with multiple personality disorder.
Some tasty guitar work on this one, if I do say so myself.
